Announcement: Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild launches Tulsa Sews!


The Board of Directors of the Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild approved the new grant program, Tulsa Sews. Grants will be offered to organizations and businesses to facilitate learning sewing skills. The application due date is November 1, 2021. Please request an application from tulsamodernquilts@gmail.com

Tulsa Sews is an initiative of the Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild to foster skill development necessary for learning the art of sewing. Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild will offer grants for teaching the basic skills of quilt making and/or garment construction.
The 
Tulsa Sews grant opportunity will be announced via the Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild Blog, website, newsletter, and social media outlets.

Grant proposals will identify goals and objectives which include instructing children, youth, or adults to sew. Proposals will include a budget, a timeline, a narrative of the project proposal, and measurable outcomes. Upon completion, a report will be sent to the Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild including outcomes and photographs of the project.

Proposals will be accepted quarterly.

Teachers and students will be invited to the July annual meeting of the Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild to report to the membership the outcome of the project.

Student projects will be offered free entry in the next Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild Quilt Show in a special exhibit.

Students’ projects will be featured on the Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild website and in the Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild newsletter.

Student and Teacher images may be submitted for publication in the Modern Quilt Guild Journal.

Students showing interest in modern quilt making may be awarded a free one-year membership in Tulsa Modern Quilt Guild and MQG.
Member Students may compete for scholarships to QuiltCon, the annual convention of The Modern Quilt Guild.
