May Virtual Membership Meeting Recap

About 40 of you were able to join us for our first Virtual Membership Meeting on May 7th! For those of you who were unable to attend, or if you just need a refresher, here is a recap of the May Membership Meeting.
  • Julie Tuller let us know that we are still unsure when we will be able to meet again physically. We will continue to utilize Zoom and our Facebook group to stay connected. Keep posting your beautiful quilts and other sewing projects for us all to enjoy!
  • The UFO Challenge is going strong. Reminder that M. Linda Cameron created a post asking for your address if you are participating. Keep up the good work! Don't forget to use the hashtag #tulsamqgufo when you post your work on Facebook and Instagram.
  • We are still doing the Charm Square Swap and will swap them when we are able to meet physically.
    • April = Blue
    • May = Black
    • June = Orange
  • The Hello Friend pillow or mini quilt will also be swapped at the next physical meeting. Pattern is from Happy Sew Lucky. Reminder that if you are making the pillow, you will need to include the 20x20 pillow form.
  • President's Challenge: Julie issued the challenge to make a quilt (any size you wish) inspired by one of the beautiful murals that can be seen all around Tulsa. Please remember to do your due diligence to connect with the artist and see how they would like to be credited.
  • A reminder that now more than ever it is important to support our local small businesses. Not only the quilt shops in our area, but other small shops that may be struggling to keep the doors open. We are sad that Retro Den will not be reopening but the small businesses that were housed within are still working hard and would love your business!
After the announcements, Julie introduced Sherri Lynn Wood as our guest speaker. She gave a little history of improv quilting and what defines it and showed some great examples. She also did a little demo.

We appreciate all of you making adjustments while we meet virtually for the time being. Let's continue to share our work, any fun sew alongs, tutorials, articles, etc. you may run across that others may also find interesting. In these strange times, let's continue to stay connected and support one another!
