February Meeting Recap

Disappointed I had to miss the February meeting because I heard it was a great one! The following recap is for me as well as others who weren't able to make it...or just need a refresher :)

1. We had 5 visitors!
2. Julie explained the grace period for National as far as annual dues are concerned. Payment will be made shortly so those of you wanting to login to your MQG account and print a membership card will be able to do so, as the MQG is no longer issuing hard copy cards.
3. We will continue the 5" charm square exchange on a monthly basis and it will serve as our "block exchange" this year. Each month will be a different color so by the end of the year you will have quite a collection to work with. No specific end game...it is up to you what you want to make with them. Robert Kaufman has a free Pixelated Heart pattern available and the link is posted on our private FB group.
4. Janet Hoetzel was announced as the 2019 winner of the NICU quilt donations and was given a gift card to Sew Much More.
5. The 2020 UFO Challenge was announced and handouts were made available and have also been posted to the FB group. Linda Cameron and Robin Jones will collect the worksheets at the March meeting - cost to participate is $5.00. Linda & Robin will also be keeping track of your completed UFOs at each meeting.
6. Tree blocks for Australia were collected by Jane Swanson and she will be mailing them off for us.
7. Sherri Lynn Wood Workshop - class size is limited to 20. Sign up form was available at the meeting and has also been posted to the FB group. All workshop details can be found in the FB group under the Events tab. The lecture on Sunday evening is open to everyone at a cost of $5 for those not attending the workshop (workshop attendees can attend lecture at no charge).
8. During the break everyone had the opportunity to visit and shop the free/for sale table and were given a color wheel.
9. After the break Rebecca Gore gave a great presentation on how to use the color wheel. It was very helpful information and I saw several members mention the wheel was going to live in their purse to have handy when they shop for fabric! Those participating in the 5" charm exchange were given their mix of RED squares.
10. Of course the meeting ended with a Show and Tell - did you notice we got new ladders for our holders?!
