Throughout the year we have focused on several aspects of modern quilting, including:
- use of bold colors/prints;
- high contrast;
- improvisational piecing;
- minimalism;
- expansive negative space;
- alternate grid work;
- modern traditionalism; and
- pop-culture influence.

Date that Quilt!
We viewed a number of vintage and modern quilts and identified the aspects of modern quilting which were present in each and then tried to determine if they were vintage or modern. Several quilters tricked us more than once! It was a fun recap to the year and a great test of the knowledge we have gained!
Tulsa MQG is currently 82 members strong and continuing to grow! We are welcoming new members every month. Membership dues for 2018 are due by the December 7th meeting. You are welcome to join or to continue your membership by clicking on the PayPal link in the right hand margin of the screen or you can pay by check at the December meeting. Membership information will be updated with the Modern Quilt Guild in January so timely payment is important to ensure you get the most out of your local and national memberships.

The 2017 President's Challenge mini quilts were displayed. The challenge was to create a 24”x24” square mini quilt using whatever technique or fabrics you want and your inspiration must be a cereal box.
A great time was had by all at the 4th Annual Tulsa MQG Fall Retreat last month! As usual the retreat was held at Camp Egan in Tahlequah, OK. We had so many fantastic sponsors!
